HourGlass Testing Solutions Moves into New Space; Plans to Hire

Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting on July 20

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH., – July 6, 2021 – A Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce member, HourGlass Testing Solutions has invited representatives from the Chamber and the community to be on-site at a ribbon-cutting event on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at 10:00 am at their new location, 418 Plymouth Ave. NE Grand Rapids, MI 49505.

A drug and alcohol testing resource in West Michigan since 2013, founder Andrea Owens will welcome guests to celebrate the company’s first official facility. Owens plans to hire 2-3 new staff in 2022 as the company grows and even more in the future. Currently, HourGlass Testing Solutions has three employees. Before opening the facility, they provided testing on-site for each client.

“We are so excited to grow the company by opening this new collection facility,” expressed Owens, a 33-year healthcare industry professional. “And with that growth, we hope to hire 2-3 additional employees in the next year to advance our model that provides an alternative to the traditional clinic setting.”

The company will still offer their same-day-on-site collections, but the addition of the collection site will allow them to expand and provide the employment community more options and flexibility from a trusted resource.

The 1,045 square foot building, formerly a physician office, will allow HourGlass Testing Solutions to leverage their testing model that reduces wait times for employees – ultimately reducing the loss of productivity for the employer.

Whether it is a one-time test or regular collections, the company is focused on working in partnership with employers to find the best solution for their business and their employees. This means that the owner, Owens, meets with employers to listen and find pain points in their current process, to find solutions for the future. Her experience in drug and alcohol testing in West Michigan has positioned the company to also train employers on best practices, allowing them to lead in an area that is oftentimes overwhelming due to policies, laws, and employee relations.

“Resources for employers are just as important as the testing itself,” explained Owens. “Additionally, it is the authenticity of our team that makes the difference for employers.”

Owens gained possession of the space on May 1, 2021, and doors are set to open on July 12, 2021, after minor repairs. Hours of operation will be Monday, 7:30am – 7pm, and Tuesday – Friday, 7:30am – 4:30pm.

Services provided include:

  • Urine drug screens
  • Hair collections
  • Breath alcohol collections
  • Oral swabs
  • Training and education for employers and their employees
  • Same-day on-site collections
