What we’re doing about it: Along with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) services and support for small businesses, our annual Support Local campaign can show you ways to shop, eat and stay at businesses across the state.
Now you know: About 98% of Michigan businesses are defined as small businesses, employing nearly half of all Michigan workers.
What to watch: See how The MEDC Supports Small Business, and the vital role they play in attracting talent to live and work in our small towns and big cities alike.
The World at Michigan’s Door
There’s a world of sales waiting. Learn how to chart an international course for your business at the 6th Annual Summer Summit & Fundraiser.
What to expect: This half-day event will cover trade topics such as supply chain best practices, sustainability and e-commerce trends with group discussions and breakout sessions, with a networking reception to close the event.
Digging deeper: The keynote will be delivered by Pete Mento, Director of Customs and International Trade for DSV, whose projects have recovered over $1 billion in duties, taxes and fees over his 30-year career.
More to the story: Michigan has a strong track record of helping its businesses go global. Zeeland Farm Services (ZFS) won Michigan Agriculture Exporter of the Year for delivering product to the Pacific Rim, Canada, Europe, Central America and South America. The MEDC helped ZFS’s affiliate in Ithaca become the state’s largest soybean processor.
